  2. a a What is the desert? • The desert is extremely hot and dry • Only rains 10 inches a year • large land with little or no vegetation • deserts are known for supporting plants and animals • About one fifth of the earths surface.

There are two types of Deserts: Hot Deserts The hot deserts are the Arabian, Australian, Chihuahuan, Kalahari, Mojave, Monte, Sahara, Sonoran, and Thar. ************************AND********************* Cold Deserts The cold deserts are the Antarctica, Atacama, Gobi, Great Basin, Aranian, Namib, Takla Makan, and Turkestan.

  4. Where are Deserts? Many deserts are found in bands along 30 degrees latitude north and 30 degrees latitude south (between the red lines on the map).

  5. What Is The Weather Like in a Desert? • The temperature ranges around 20-25° Celsius • Extreme heat can even go up to 120° • Usually hot except after sun sets • Only rains about 10 inches or less per year • Cold Deserts usually have lots of snow.

  6. What plants grow in the Desert? There are the: -Aloe plants -Saguaro Cactus - Barrel Cactus - Old Man Cactus -Prickly Pear Cactus - Dragon Tree -Fish Hook Plant -Desert Spoon -Joshua Tree -Yucca

  7. What animals live in the desert? Snakes ThornyDevils Addax's Great mouse-tailedrats Cactuslarks Fennec foxes Lappet-Faced Vultures Fat sand rats Great Jerboas Cactus wrens Dingo's Gila Monsters sidewinders Insects

  8. How do the Animals Adapt to there Inviroment? Animals that live in the desert have to adapt to there inviroment. Some of the animals never drink and just get there water from plants and others will sleep during the day and hunt at night when its not as hot.
