  3. Morning Arrival 8:00 – Students may enter school *No supervision prior to 8:00 AM * Students sit quietly in hallway 8:25 – 1st bell rings and gates are locked 8:30 – Tardy bell *Students need tardy pass from front office if enter room after tardy bell

  4. Class Schedule • 8:30-8:40 Morning Work • 8:40-10:15 Reading/Embedded Social • Studies/Writing • 10:15-10:40 Recess • 10:40-11:25 Writing • 11:25-12:00 Resource • 12:05-12:20 Read Aloud • 12:20-12:50 Lunch • 12:50-1:45 Math • 1:45-2:25 Science • 2:25-2:35 Closing & Dismissal

  5. HomeworkExpecations • Please ensure nightly reading. Reading logs and books will be provided after reading levels are assessed. • Sight word practice. • Math fact practice. • Vocabulary review. • *Homework can be fun!

  6. Class Website • Information will be sent home as soon as possible. • Updated weekly to keep you informed of class instruction and activities. • Monthly podcasts. • School Website: www.clay.k12.fl.us/aes

Classroom Management • Focus is on the development of social skills that contribute to cooperative learning. • Token Economy-students earn pennies which can be used to purchase rewards on Fridays. • Rule reminders are documented and result in movement down the clip chart and a lower end of day pay. • Students can continue to receive pennies for good behavior to ensure continued strive toward positive behavior.

Communication • Blue Folder-contains a communication log for notes to you or from you regarding your child and a bag for transportation of money or other important small items. • E-mail will be sent frequently if permission is given. • Conferences-minimum of 2 per school year 1st beginning after initial assessments and prior to Winter Break. Conference Night will be held in October. If you have a time preference please indicate on the communication log and I will try to accommodate your needs. • Class Website • School Website • School Facebook

Common Core • Mission Statement • The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy

  11. Grades • Align with Common Core • Incorporate more application evaluations in addition to concrete evidence. • Rubrics are used for application evaluations. • Concrete evidence (tests, worksheets, etc. will use # Correct/Total Item #)

  12. Report Card • Align with Common Core. • Evaluates progress toward mastery of Common Core standards. • Please review the Clay County Schools Standards Based Reporting System phamphlet and sample report card. • Additional information will be given during curriculum night in October.

  13. Donations • Always Welcome! • Healthy snacks • Paper Towels • Tissue Paper (Kleenex) • Baggies of All Sizes • Cleaning Supplies (wipes, screen cleaners, Swiffers, Magic Erase, etc.) • Hand Sanitizer • Various requested items throughout the school year.

  14. Volunteers • Argyle Volunteers are greatly appreciated! • Volunteers are needed for at-home and in school projects. There is also great need for support for the Fall Festival and Arts at Argyle. Please see the Volunteer Form in your packet. • Parents In Education (PIE) is always on the lookout for new members. Flyers will be coming home soon.
