  8. What about 6.0 / 6.5 ? • No upgrade • Reuse OS with applications and settings • Uninstall XenApp • Install VDA 7.6

  18. Connection Leasing • “Replacement” for LHC • Remembers connections for the last 14 days • Syncronizes between DDC’s • “A lease maps the user, resource and (optionally) the client device from which the connection was launched” • Does not work with Pooled Desktops

  23. Storefront 2.6 • Launched with XenApp/XenDesktop 7.6 • All versions of Storefront • Supports XenApp 4.5/5.0 on Windows Server 2003 and up. • Consolidate both XenApp and XenDesktop • Mandatory Apps • Changing design is more simple (Storefront 2.5)

  25. Licensing • 1 Site in XenApp can use only 1 license type • Multiple license types = Multiple sites • 100 XenApp PLT = 1 site • 100 XenApp Ent = 1 site • 100 XenDesktop Ent = 1 site • 1 site = 2 DDC’s, 1 SQL DB, Policies etc…

  26. Licensing example • A customer has 400 XenApp licenses • Upgrades 100 to XenDesktop for testing • Have to set up 2 sites to use both license types

  28. Should I upgrade? • Role based access to desktop and applications is complex • Some Citrix policies applies only to desktop OS

  29. That said… • We have many satisfied customers running 7.x • Stable • Citrix Director / Remote Assistance • Machine Creation Services • Upgrade is simple • Citrix UPM built in • HDX • Support for multiple OS
