  2. Rationale: We want the students to be able to tell each other the things that are the same and the things that a different in The Hat and The Mitten. (Compare and contrast)

  3. Objectives: Students will be able to: • Contrast The Hat and The Mitten • Compare The Hat and The Mitten

  4. Materials: • Books, The Hat and The Mitten by Jan Brett • Large piece of butcher paper • Markers

  5. Procedure: • Read The Hat by Jan Brett to the students. • Discuss The Hat with the students. • Read The Mitten by Jan Brett to the students. • Discuss The Mitten with the students.

  6. Assessment: Use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast The Hat and The Mitten.
