  1. Venture Expedition 2015 (Late June early July)

  2. What is an Expedition ? For Most People The Word Expedition Conjures Up Images Of Famous Explorers Battling Against The Elements To Conquer Mountains, Or Cross Deserts, Or Explore Rainforests ! But We Are Just A Bunch Of Normal Divers Looking To Do Something Different Than Just Another Dive. So what can we do !!!!

  3. Aims To choose a suitable destination. How to get there and back. To put together a core team Leadership. Invite willing volunteers to help with workload. The need to dive with a purpose and not just a holiday. Do the type of diving members want to do. Guarantee the safety of all members in and out of the water

  4. Back in 2011 17 people from three dive clubs pooled their resources to achieve just such a goal, to go and do something challenging! To go somewhere they had never been before and to overcome the many obstacles that presented themselves, and to eventually have a fantastic week's diving in some of the finest waters in the UK So in 2015 we are planning to do another Expedition but as with the last one the planning starts now!! This is a chance for you to get involved in putting a trip together from the start to finish and along the way make new friends, learn new skills and above all, have a lot of fun.

  5. Who can come on the trip ?* Fill out a Expedition application form. Aim to be as self-sufficient as possible. Will we use a hard boat or take ribs with us ? Will a compressor be required ? All these and many more questions will have to be resolved by the members.

  6. The first thing we need to run an Expedition is a Destination So I would like to invite potential members to think about possible destinations and put together a short 10min presentation either on power point or flip chart and present it at the next meeting, this only needs to be a skeleton of an idea that we can look at to make an informed decision. Don't worry if you're not confident in putting something like this together, there are people who are willing to help.

  7. Your Presentation Needs to Include • Your destination (location and dive sites) • Purpose* • How to get there and back (transport) • Accommodation (numbers) • Costs

  8. Once we have a destination the real work can start like working out how we are going to get there. Accommodation is another big issue depending how many are on the trip The type of diving available and making sure members are qualified and fit to do the dives To enhance members’ diving skills in a challenging expeditionary environment and increase their confidence, capability and experience. An opportunity to finish off any training and to get that person to their next diver grade

  9. Application form The purpose of the Application form is to help us get a good balance of divers so we know our weaknesses and strengths. It is not designed to whittle out the weakest divers in fact quite the opposite and will help us identify where training is required.

  10. Once we have viewed all the ideas we will make a decision on which seems the best option. A detailed plan will then be produced covering the many facets that an expedition requires to make it work, and there are lots!! • Purpose • Objectives • Diving • Planned dive sites • Backup plans • Other information • Dates • Transport • Food • Accommodation • Costs To mention but a handful

  11. The Expedition will be making an application to BSAC to be considered for the BEGS grant. * I have invited Jim Donbavand to come along as a mentor, he is a 1stclass Diver, North West area coach and was on the Summer Isle's trip and got on with Everyone. It would be good if he can make it. Also a full set of accounts will be kept so members can see at a glance where monies have been spent. If you would like to be considered for a place on the Expedition please take an application form and return it at the next meeting. Places may be limited and a deposit will be required. Next meeting 20th November 8pm at Howe Bridge Has anyone got any questions
