  5. Who is Mrs. Danas About me: I graduated from La Porte High School and then UH-Clear Lake with a BS in early Childhood Education. I am ESL certified. This is my 7th year teaching Pre-K and 17th year teaching over all. I’m married and have 3 kids; twin girls in JR High graders and my oldest daughter just started at San Jac. Expectations for Students: I expect all my students to work hard and try their best in what ever we are learning. I maintain very high expectations in my classroom. I teach as if I am teaching Kindergarten but in a way for them to understand and comprehend the subject matter. I expect my students to maintain acceptable behavior and have respect for their teachers and other students around them. • Be prompt • Ready to learn • Have all materials daily • Participation, Participation, Participation Expectations for Parents: I expect my students’ parents to work with their child every night on concepts we are learning. Especially if your child is struggling with certain concepts. Working with your child daily can only help improve their comprehension and help them succeed in school. Your child NEEDS your support. They need their learning to be reinforced at home every single day. • Check folders and sign planners daily • Read, Read, Read • Reinforce skilled being learned in class (see monthly newsletter and homework calendar) • Communicate with teacher. We are a team so let’s work together.

Class Information/Schedule • 22students 1 teacher (Mrs. Danas)1 teacher’s aide (rotate) • Workstations: • Writing, Math/Science, Blocks, ABC, Reading/Listening, IPAD, Computers, STEM, Interactive Technology, Small Group w/Teacher. • What students will need in class EVERYDAY: • Clear Folder • Planner • Clear Backpack

  8. Behavior Blue– Excellent behavior, went above and beyond through out the whole day. Green – Everyone starts here. Ready to learn. Yellow – One issue during the day. Depending on severity can move up to green. Red – Two or more issues through out the dayor one sever issue (biting, hitting, etc.) **Please look in planner and initial daily**

  9. College Park Title I School • We receive extra funds based on the household income level of most of our students. • We use the funding on extra materials, tutoring, transportation, Interventionists, and training.

  11. Attendance: • Attendance is vital to our students’ overall academic success. College Park will follow the district and state attendance guidelines. All students are encouraged to attend school every day. • Perfect attendance will be recognized each nine weeks at the Awards’ ceremonies. To receive Perfect Attendance a student must have zero tardies, zero early outs, and zero absences of any kind. Students with perfect attendance will be in a drawing for large prizes such as a family pack of tickets to a sporting event at the mid-year and at the end of the year. Absences: • When a student returns from being absent, please send a written note of explanation or doctor’s note within 3 school days. After a significant amount of absences, a student may be required to submit a doctor’s note for all future absences. According to the mandatory attendance law students must be present 90% of the year. Student will be required to make up missed time or attend summer school to be promoted if they miss more than 10% of the year.

  12. Any time you pick your child up you MUST Show a picture ID so that it can be scanned into the System as well as sign them out.

  13. Visitors • All Visitors will need to go through the front office and receive a visitors tag. • VSOFT is used to clear all visitors to the building. It is a program that will ask for a valid driver’s license/ID and make a tag for you to be in the building. Return the tag to the office when you leave. • Visitors are welcome to have lunch with students at the designated tables; for safety reasons we ask that you please sit with your child only. • PLEASE remember these procedures take place for the safety of your students and may take a little extra time. Your patience is appreciated.

  15. PTA, Volunteers, and School Day Visitors Please make sure to fill out your Volunteer Application on line at www.lpisd.org under “Job Applicants and Volunteers” prior to the start of school. Computers are available for you to complete today. There are a lot of activities coming up that you will want to be a part of and you MUSThave a completed and cleared application each school year to enjoy these events.

Cougar Café -Breakfast and Lunch • We have Universal Breakfast which means ALL students will receive a FREE breakfast each morning. • PK Lunch is free for all students • Students have 30 minute lunches • We have students with food allergies so please be aware • Starting Sept. 17 you may come to have lunch according to student’s last name- Tuesday- A-I Wednesday- J-R Thursday- S-Z Cafeteria closes May 7, 2020 • Forgotten lunches need to be delivered to the front office before 9:00 am.

  17. Please Become a Memberof our PTA Memberships are $5.00 per person. Pizza party for the classroom with the most memberships. Membership drive goes through October 4. Envelopes available at the PTA table or see a PTA Board Member. We need everyone’s help to make CPE a great school. Our PTA helps with family nights, Fall Carnival, Snacks with Santa, Polar Express, Parties, AR celebrations, Spring Fling, and MUCH more.

Notes from Mrs. Whitlock , Principal and Mrs. Greenwood, Assistant Principal • Our #1 goal is to provide a SAFE and Orderly environment that promotes students learning. • The physical and emotional safety of all students is taken seriously. • Preventive methods for bullying, fighting, stealing, etc. are established and such behavior will not be tolerated. • Please read over Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. If you have any concerns or questions please let us know. • Our doors are always open: we are here to assist you and make College Park the BEST it can be!

  22. Arrival and Dismissal • Please use Amherst to enter the drive and stay in your cars for drop off and pick up • Doors open at 7:15 but staff is not outside until 7:30 • PK dismisses at 3:40. You MUST have a Blue Tag for Car Riders. • Transportation changes - You must call the office not the classroom before 2pm.

  23. Procedures • Check folder and initial planner daily. All notes need to be in foldernot in the backpack. We do not check backpacks. • Provide a change of clothes in backpack at all times- always replace with clean. • Your child may bring a beach towel/small baby blanket for rest. • Label everything: backpacks, lunchboxes and clothes. • Parties- We will have two parties - Christmas and End of Year. • Field Trip – Must have a CPE shirt

  24. Birthdays- Cupcakes or Cookies only. Must be store bought with ingredients listed. We prefer the little cupcakes! • Holidays – No treat bags, especially no candy. • Websites – ABC Mouse, Teach Your Monster to Read...info coming soon. • We eat snack everyday – we are still in need!! If you have not brought snack and need to know what we asked for, let me know! • Medication- all medication must be sealed and go through the nurses office with a note. This includes cough drops and chap stick. Please do not place medical items in backpacks. This goes for hand sanitizer as well. • Dress – Closed toe shoes with socks please, shorts under dresses, no spaghetti straps.

  25. Homework • Homework Folder • Homework Calendar • For now: Practice writing name every night, practice spelling it and learning the letters in name. • Practice Counting to at least 10, if not 20 everynight

  26. Paperwork • If your child has any allergies, please fill out paperwork • Please return all first day paper work as soon as possible • Tear out and return handbook page in the middle of the handbook
