District Needs: • Increased enrollment of students at the elementary level • Need to increase number of programs to expand services for students with disabilities across the district • Align the district with the Governor Malloy’s initiative for increased Pre-K and early childhood programs across the state

  3. PURPOSE • To continue to provide a high-quality, early childhood program that offers unique experiences to support the first years within New London Public Schools New London Public Schools

  4. WHO WILL ATTEND? • New London Pre-Kindergarten students will attend • New London Kindergarten students will attend from each of the three magnet elementary schools i G T D R K N A R E N E New London Public Schools

  5. GRADE 1 • Students already assigned to Jennings, Nathan Hale, or Winthrop will remain members of their designated magnet school community and will be guaranteed a first grade seat at their designated magnet school for the 2015-2016 school year • District will support newly registered families in lotteryprocess New London Public Schools

  6. BENEFITS • State of the art technology • Exposure to each of the district’s three, elementary magnet themes: multiculturalism, art and STEM • Highly qualified teachers and staffknowledgeable in child development and early childhood education • A free, healthy breakfast, snack and lunch will be served every day • Onsite school nurse • Newly landscaped playground and fields New London Public Schools

  7. SAFETY • Ensuring school safety by meeting all city and state health requirements • An outside agency will do a second testing upon completion of renovation work New London Public Schools

  8. TIMELINE Open House/Early Childhood Fair Thursday, August 21, at 6 p.m. The first day of school for the Early Childhood Center at Harbor School is August 25th New London Public Schools
