  1. Drill 5/5 • Today, you will write two questions for each student who presents a speech. What do you think are the components of thoughtful, clever questions? • Take a few minutes to prepare for your speech (take out the rubric I gave to you: I will be using it to grade your presentation). If you are not presenting today, please be respectful and wait quietly while those who are working prepare.

  2. Monday, May 5th Agenda: Present Speeches Become Model Audience Members Homework: Have your speech ready to present if you didn’t present yours today.

  3. Audience Expectations:Must Craft 2 Questions for Presenter If I see . . . • Heads facing the presenter • Heads nodding up and down • A silent audience • Respectful listening • Clever questions/debates offered by audience after the speech Then you will not need to turn anything in. If I see . . . • Whispering to a peer • Eyes looking around the room and NOT at the presenter • Not prepared with two important questions for speaker • Silently signing across the room Then you will need to complete graded notes due by the end of the period.

Learning Targets • I can begin with a clear hook that pulls my audience in. • I can establish an appropriately formal tone and use appropriate voice fluctuation. • I can be mindful in my word choice avoiding common downfalls such as “like,” “uh,” and “um.” • I can make consistent eye contact with my audience. • I can use clear and obvious transitions between ideas.
