  2. ASO Facilitator • Progress towards ASO being made, but one obstacle so far has been lack of time: • RIR executive staff • RIR boards • All have day jobs ! • Very important for RIRs to maintain momentum, initiative, continuity • Proposal is to appoint facilitator

  3. Facilitator Proposal • Need person who can devote at least 50% of time over next 6+ months • Funded by RIPE NCC, APNIC (ARIN) • Expertise needed requires industry insider • Time needed implies industry outsider ! • Suggestions, nominations, volunteers? welcome

  4. Facilitator Task • Attend regular ICANN meetings • Monitor and participate in mailing lists • Drive open constructive process • Liaise with ICANN board • Build consensus on principles first.. • ..then main output will be ASO defining documents

  6. Principles • Important to have open public process • Announce and advertise vacancy as widely as possible • Both external and internal applications welcome • Maintain highest professional standards
