  1. Warm up 03-26-14 • Question: You push with 100 N of force on a 50 kg capybara. It resists with 25 N and friction is 25 N. What is the acceleration? • Answer: • A = Fnet / m • Fnet = 100 – 25 -25 = 50 N • A = 50 N / 50 kg = 1 m/s/s • Goal: I will explore Newton’s 2nd law through experimentation.

  2. Element of the day • 81 – Thallium – Ti • Thallium is the first acutely toxic element since arsenic (33). Tests exist for thallium as a murder weapon, but it must be suspected first. • Symptoms of thallium poisoning include vomiting, hair loss, delirium, blindness, and abdominal pain.
