  3. Company History Timeline • 1887: John W. Nordstrom left his home land (Sweden) to NYC • 1897: He moved to Alaska in pursuit of seeking gold, earned $13,000 in a gold mine stake and then returned to Seattle • 1901: John Nordstrom & a new friend, Carl Walling, opened their 1st shoe store called “Wallin & Nordstrom” • 1928: John retired and sold his share of the company to this two sons: Everett and Elmer Nordstrom • 1960: Nordstrom had eight stores located in Washington and Oregon. The downtown store in Seattle became the largest shoe store in the country. • 1968: The three bro’s decided to retire and handed the company over to the 3rd Nordstrom generation • 1971: WENT PUBLIC • 1988: Nordstrom made the big move to the East Coast and opened a beautiful new store in Virginia

  4. A Little Bit More History • 2009: Nordstrom operated 210 U.S. stores • TODAY: Nordstrom operates 116 full-line stores, 91 Nordstrom Racks, 2 Jeffery boutiques and one clearance store

  13. Future Prediction I believe that since Nordstrom sells many different brands and varieties of products they will continue to be successful. With styles continuously changing, Nordstrom seems to always be up to date on the current fashions, accessories and home goods.
