  3. What is a company? What is inside this package? How do you know? Why is Hershey’s Kiss so well known? How do you think it is made? What do you think it takes to invent and develop a new candy?

  4. The Chocolate Company Based on what you already know and what we learned today, come up with your own definition of company. We will display the best definitions on a stock market word wall. Fell free to make your card stand out artistically.

  5. How do people develop a business? Choose a company or product that interests you. Research the company to determine their type of organization, their history, the benefits of their organization, and the sources you used to find this information. Try to find stock prices and the trend of the product as well. Record your answers on the chart. Tell the class about the product!

  7. What you’re doing… Today you will create your own business! Select a product or service you would like to sell. How would you develop your business? Discuss exactly what you would manufacture, how you would manufacture it, and what your company goals would be. Be entrepreneur! Who knows what that means? Take a look at www.myownbusiness.org to find more information about creating a business plan.

  9. Mars vs. Hershey How are these candy bars alike and different? Did you know that you can own part of one of these companies? Let’s see which one you can purchase. Read “A Tale of Two Chocolate Companies”

  10. Did you know that… Companies that make popular products aren’t always obvious? For example, Mars is known for its candy bars, but it also makes Uncle Ben’s Rice! Select a product you like and use frequently and research the company that makes it. You will use the information to write a company profile. Find out if they are public or private, their history, what products they sell, and which exchange they are traded on.

  11. Company Profile You will take this information and write a company profile. Check out www.nyse.com or www.hoovers.com for examples of company profiles. You will share your profiles with the class and convince us to either buy or stay away from this company.
