Destination Measures What are destination measures? • Destination measures show the percentage of pupils or students going to or remaining in an education and/or employment destination in the academic year after completing their key stage 4 or key stage 5 (level 3) studies • Published annually at national, regional, LA, parliamentary constituency and institutional level (including student characteristics) • Published in Performance Tables as a headline accountability measure for both key stages

Destination Measures Education or employment activity 2014/15 2013/14 cohort What constitutes a ‘destination’ in the measure? • The cohort is as published in the Performance Tables • Destinations are derived from activity the year after a student completes KS4 or completes KS5 (level 3 only) • The destination has to be sustained for at least two terms (October – March) • Employment destinations are allowed a pause of one month • Students recorded in both education and employment will be recorded as education

  4. Destination Measures What about students who don’t have a sustained destination? There are other reporting categories in the measure • Destination not sustained – some activity during the year but failed to meet the 6 month sustainability criteria • Activity not captured – no activity recorded in any of the administrative datasets

Destination Measures Student level data is shared with schools and colleges • Prior to publication, student level data is provided to institutions • Opportunity for institutions to check and update own records • Queries can be raised with us concerning individual student destinations • Next data share will take place on 3 July 2017 for the 2014/15 cohort

  10. Destination Measures How is Client Caseload Information System (CCIS) data used? • KS4 only • Identify any additional employment or training destinations that were not captured in all other admin datasets • Identify students who are NEET (In conjunction with DWP benefit data)
