SWITCH Introduction • The SWITCH Team is a fundamental part of the Business Transformation Programme and will be used as a bridge between the old organisational structure and the more efficient arrangements required in the restructuring • It requires a flexible and dynamic approach from both employees and managers • Employees will need to be willing to take on new challenges and leave the ‘comfort’ of their current roles • Managers will need to commit to nurturing potential • The SWITCH Team will work in collaboration with the Internal Jobs Market Recruitment Team

  3. SWITCH What is it? A dedicated team who will manage all staff in transition during the restructure Why do we need it? The aim for the Council to retain our highly skilled & experienced workforce How will it work? Offer staff projects until they are placed into a substantive post

  4. SWITCH What areSWITCHProjects? • Temporary posts within the Council • Managers will be asked to identify work which is important within their departments - including: maternity, sickness & any other long-term leave • They will submit a project application - this will be forwarded for approval

  5. SWITCH What are Project Officers? • They are colleagues who are in transition and will have joined the SWITCH Team until they find a substantive role within the Council • They will have a generic SWITCH contract which allows them to rotate between the various department projects

SWITCH How does SWITCH work? • Project Officers will register with the Internal Jobs Market (IJM) • The SWITCH Team will match Project requirements to the Project Officers using the IJM assessments - an on-line questionnaire, broken down in to three sections: personality, verbal and numerical reasoning • Project Officers will be supported throughout by the Resource Assignment Advisor & the People Management Leads

  7. SWITCH How long will Project Officers be in the SWITCH Team? Until they find a substantive role with the council
