  1. The plan • The overall plan is to design and develop cost-effective, practical ergonomic support devices. • Use LBNL/Engineering skills and expertise to provide public benefit in an area that is ubiquitous and in need of significant improvement • Offer good potential for commercialization & subsequent income stream to LBNL • Address area of interest to all parties involved: DesignWorks, EH&S, EETD • Conduct a 2 phase program : • Phase 1 • Set up lab and test facilities • Fabricate, test, and screen proposed solutions • Phase 2 • Develop Product or System prototypes • Conduct quantitative evaluation and Human tests • Solicit CRADA pertners

  2. The Flow Engineering Studies Presentation to McGraw LBL Presentation Industry CRADA Engineering development Development Money Screen candidates Idea Industry Solution Commercialization Invention disclosure Seed money Lab set up Concept generation Hardware Fab Testing and Evaluation

  3. Summary of work • Develop a suite of design approaches • Set-up dedicated Lab space • Fabricate Prototype support mechanisms and test hardware • Conduct qualitative, subjective performance evaluations • Screen candidate concepts for further development

  4. Prototypes and Test hardware • { List and pictures of hardware }

  5. Summary of findings

  6. Requirements and Assumptions

  7. Phase 2 plan • Develop quantitative evaluation criteria • Develop evaluation procedures for human testing • Develop test plan • Refine Phase 1 candidate concepts for further development and testing • Produce functional prototypes for quantitative testing • Iterate successful prototypes toward discrete products or systems • Prepare solicitation documents and target potential industrial partners • Initiate CREDA and partnership proposals
