  1. International Women's Day 2021: An Interview with Sasha Levin This year's International's Women's Day theme #ChooseToChallenge represents the idea of challenging norms related to gender equality to create change. At DSJ Global, we choose to challenge and promote gender diversity and inclusion. Sasha Levin, Recruitment Consultant – Supply Chain & Procurement, shares her thoughts on this year's theme, and how she chooses to challenge in her role. What does the #ChooseToChallenge message mean to you? The #ChooseToChallenge message means to me to challenge the norms, the stereotypes, and the expectations that may be held within certain industries and sectors within Supply Chain and beyond. I think we all have a responsibility to challenge our internal prejudices or stereotypes we may have around gender in the workplace, as well as in everyday life.

  2. What role can recruiters play in challenging norms and creating change? I think we can speak with our clients about how they strive for diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are helping create the workforce and we help shape what an organization looks like, so it's important to inform and understand our clients' views and plans to challenge norms for change. What advice would you give to a company trying to create a diverse hiring strategy? Focus on candidates based off of their ability and experience, not their name or gender. You want to have a diverse workforce to bring in new ideas, new views and new experiences. As a female leader, what advice would you give to other aspiring leaders in overcoming potential gender biases and achieving career success? It's important to notice biases and challenges as they come, and pushing past them to prove yourself that you can be successful and that success isn't defined by gender - it's defined by hard work, determination, and experience. About Sasha Levin Sasha sits on the DSJ Global Chicago team where she recruits for Procurement and Planning professionals in heavy manufacturing industries across the mid-west. She graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Organizational Psychology and Interpersonal Communications. Challenging norms in gender inclusiveness is something that she thinks isn't going to be an easy overnight fix, but she believes that if we all put more focus and awareness toward the issue, and challenge each other, then we will be moving in a great direction to make the work world, and beyond, a more inclusive and diverse space.
