  3. Being Responsible Online Digital citizenship is important because teenagers are constantly involved in a digitally influenced society. We need to take safety precautions, be responsible, and respectful while using the internet. We can also incorporate technology into our current and future education. “Social media has become one of the greatest influences on our children's happiness, health, safety, and future success.” How to use the internet responsible • School Research : projects, naviance, digital library. • Independent Usage: jobs/resumes, social media : having business accounts where you can sell shoes, clothes, jewelry, ect • Your social media pages are a direct reflection of who you are, just keep in mind what you’re portraying, future job employers can see it.

  4. DC safety • Private info- Being private with the information you put online is crucial. Companies such as Facebook, Google, or Yahoo could use your preferences for a “personalized experience.” They can do this legally through their “Terms and Conditions.” In order to protect yourself, use secure passwords and never share personal information (address, social security #, school name, ect.) • Cyberbullying- Make sure to always be kind to others. It might be easy to say something through a screen, but on the other side there is a real person that is being affected by your words. • Explicit images/behavior- Be conscious when sending specific images or content electronically. Once you send something it's permanently out there. The person you intend to see it might not be the only one who sees. It can easily be shared or saved.
