  11. A Dialogue on Success • Programs’ response to low success • Rigor – Our programs are simply more rigorous than others • Students – West Valley students are not college ready • New Hire – Need more faculty to relieve the stress and class size • Efficiency – Emphasis and pressure is placed on efficiency • Demographics – Programs attract younger students who are not as prepared as older students • Open Access – We let in anyone who wants a seat

  12. A Dialogue on Success • Questions for dialogue • Why do programs with efficiency above the College goal feel that they are being driven to these higher levels of efficiency? • Why do many of the higher efficiency programs with rigorous academic requirements also have no course pre-requisites?

  13. A Dialogue on Success • Questions for dialogue • How can programs with high efficiency experiment with success strategies such as adopting pre-requisites in reading and writing without fearing ramifications of lower efficiency? • Is there a way to evaluate a program’s quality based on a ratio of efficiency to student success?

  14. 2013 – Sustainable Continuous Quality Improvement • CPI • Identify new PR delivery system: • CurricUNET • Zoomerang or Survey Monkey • Get feedback - Breakout session with Program Leaders at Spring All Campus Day • Increasingly more collaboration with SLO and Curriculum Committees.
