  1. Christ our Bridegroom

  2. Isa 54:5 • For your Maker is your husband,    the Lord of hosts is his name;and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer,    the God of the whole earth he is called. • Isa 62:5 • as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,    so shall your God rejoice over you.

  3. Ezek 23:27 • With their idols they have committed adultery, and they have even offered up to them for food the children whom they had borne to me • Isa 3:1 • “If a man divorces his wife  and she goes from himand becomes another man's wife,    will he return to her?Would not that land be greatly polluted? You have played the whore with many lovers;    and would you return to me? declares the Lord.

  4. Jer 3:20 • Surely, as a treacherous wife leaves her husband,    so have you been treacherous to me, O house of Israel, declares the Lord. • Hos 1:2 • Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.

  5. Hos 2 • 16 “And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ 17. 19 And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. 20 I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord.

  6. John 3:28-30 • 28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ 29The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease

  7. 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 • For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. 3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

  8. Eph 5:23-27 • For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.  Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

  9. Rev 21:1-3, 9-11 • Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. • Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God

  10. Rev 19:6-8 • “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God  the Almighty reigns.7 Let us rejoice and exult  and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come,    and his Bride has made herself ready;8 it was granted her to clothe herself    with fine linen, bright and pure”— • for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. • 9 And the angel said[b] to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
