EAC Responsibilities • Provide guidance and assistance to Region entities in organizing short courses and publicizing educational opportunities available from the Institute. • Develop and utilize an infrastructure for rapid and effective communications between the membership and the Region Educational Activities Committee. • Promote educational activities at the member level and communicate to the Educational Activities Board (EAB) the educational concerns of the membership. • Provide the Region membership with current information regarding continuing education and professional development opportunities. • Encourage members to participate in TISP/pre-college programs. • Promote Educational Activities awards. • Support the Region Professional Activities Committee. • Provide pertinent and timely committee information to the Region Newsletter Editor. • Address other such tasks as may be assigned by the Region Delegate/Director.

R10 EAC Action Plan 2011 • Carry out a TISP Program in a cooperation with a host section in the region • Support an Accreditation Program/Seminar in at least 1 country • Support a Technical symposium/Colloquium for at least 5 sections • Support a Soft skill education program for at least 2 sections • Initiate joint project among Student/GOLD/WIE • Facilitate at least 1 EAB Award nomination from the region • Work with IEEE EAB Section Outreach Committee to reach out to sections without EAB in the region

Past Activities – 2010 Highlights • Awarded all 32 proposals(from 12 chapters/4 countries) for the total support of USD 5,500 • Assessed and Promoted R10 sections to have dedicated EAC (now at 42%) • Support participation of students activities : IEEEXtreme Programming 2010 – Thailand (2 universities participated and won 7th place) • Promote Accreditation activities in Thailand

Teacher in Service Program (TISP) Encourage member participation in TISP • to develop and present technologically oriented subject matter to local pre-college educators in an in-service or professional development setting. • Resources: • http://www.ieee.org/organizations/eab/precollege/tispt/forsections.htm • Lesson Plans • http://www.ieee.org/organizations/eab/precollege/tispt/lessons.htm

Accreditation Program • To identify and meet the accreditation needs of the profession by assisting in the establishment and implementation of systems that assure and improve the understanding and quality of accreditation in applied science, computing, engineering and technology. • The IEEE Region 10 EAC would like to see many more countries in this region to establish a national accreditation process or system and standard and hence to be able to benchmark against international standard and become a signatory of the Washington Accord. • Currently the signatories of WA are Australia, Canada, Ireland,New Zealand, UK, USA, Hong Kong, South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea. Germany, Malaysia and Russia are provisional members.
