  1. “UNITY” Identify with Christ Part 3 (Abiding in Christ) John 15:1-5

  2. What do you believe that you need in life to be happy? How are you going about trying to attain this happiness? What do you believe will be your reward if you were to attain this? What is your life like without it?

  3. Man was created to commune with God. It is only when man is in communion with God that he is enabled to genuinely bear His image. Christ’s death on the cross provided the means by with man could once again be in communion with God and bear His image.

  4. John 15:1-11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11

  5. 1. Being in union with Christ assures the believer that he will be conformed to bear Christ’s image. Vs. 1-3

  6. “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

  7. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Man’s greatest joy comes from being in communion with Christ.

  8. Read John 6:35-40 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35 Where have you sought your primary fulfillment outside of Christ?

  9. 2. It is only when the believer is in communion with Christ that anything of value can be accomplished. Vs. 4-5

  10. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

  11. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. Christlikeness is only genuine when the believer is in communion with Christ.

  12. Read John 6:52-58 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. John 6:53 Where have you sought to achieve in your own strength?
