1. Welcome to Naviance/Family Connection Class of 2015!!

2. Today you will learn about: • Matching your Common App and Naviance/Family Connection Accounts • Adding colleges to your Naviance list • Requesting transcripts through Naviance/ • Sending SAT scores • Filling out teacher and school counselor surveys • Requesting teacher recommendations • Scholarships

3. HOW DO I MATCH MY COMMON APP ACCOUNT TO MY NAVIANCE/FAMILY CONNECTION ACCOUNT?

4. Click on Manage my account

5. Click on manage my profile.

6. Do you have a email address? If so, write it down. You will need it for the next step. If not, click on the pencil icon.

7. Enter an email address that you will check often, and confirm it. Then click the Update button.

8. Click on the colleges tab

9. Click on colleges I’m applying to

10. Click on Common App Online-we are going to ‘match’ the two accounts.

11. Click on Create An Account.

14. Click on Common App

15. Click on College Search when you are finished. Fill out the Education part.

17. Check the box next to University of Maryland, Baltimore County Click Add

18. Check this box

19. Check this box

20. Sign and date

22. Type in email address then click Match.

23. Match is complete.

24. The matching process is so teachers and counselors can send all your documents to your colleges. You still need to add colleges to both your Common App account AND your Naviance/Family Connection list.

25. HOW DO I ADD COLLEGES TO MY NAVIANCE/FAMILY CONNECTION LIST?

26. Click Add To This List

27. You must bring in your Release of Records Form. Click Add Colleges.

28. Let’s talk about these icons and what they mean.

29. HOW DO I REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS?

30. Click Request Transcripts

31. Be sure to click Request Transcripts!!

32. You will get a green confirmation box stating that your transcript requests have been submitted.

33. HOW DO MY SAT SCORES GET SENT TO THE COLLEGES I AM APPLYING TO? They have to be directly sent to the colleges from College Board. The website is http://sat.collegeboard.org/scores. There is a fee to send scores to each school.

34. WHAT IS A TEACHER AND COUNSELOR SURVEY?

35. The counselor and teacher recommendation requests are found under ‘surveys to take.’

36. There are a total of 12 questions on this form. The more info you give, the better recommendation we can write! Click on the about me tab to return to the front page again.

37. Ask your teacher IN PERSON first!!!!! This form has six questions—be specific so your teacher can write you a great rec! Remember, counselors and teachers cannot write you a letter of recommendation until you fill out these forms.

38. Click on add/cancel requests.

39. You must write a note! It is NOT optional! Be careful about how many teachers you ask to write a recommendation for you-the Common App and many other schools only want a maximum of two. Since things are electronic now, if more than two teachers submit a rec letter for you electronically, only the first two will be accepted. Click on arrow.

40. Make sure you write a note!!! Click a teacher’s name off the drop-down menu. Click Update Requests

41. You will get a green confirmation box stating that your requests have been updated.

42. There are no counselor recommendation requests on Naviance/Family Connection because your counselor will automatically send a letter of recommendation out based on the schools in your ‘Colleges I’m Applying To’ list. Only put the schools you are definitely applying to on this list.

43. HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION?
