  1. Ares: the god of war By Matt

  2. Introduction • Ares was worshipped by the Greeks as the Greek god of war. His parents are the Greek gods Hera and Zeus. He also fought brutally in wars. Because of his title and reputation, Greek warriors worshipped him before and during wars and battles. The Greeks believed that By worshipping Ares, they would win any battle or war they were involved in.

  3. symbols • Ares is the Greek god of war. His symbols include the sword, the spear, the shield, the helmet, the chariot, the dog, the boar, the vulture, and the flaming torch. All of his symbols relate to his status as the god of war and his insatiable thirst for war and conflict.

  4. backstory • Ares was the Greek god of war and perhaps the most unpopular of all the Olympian gods because of his quick temper, aggressiveness, and unquenchable thirst for conflict. He famously seduced Aphrodite, unsuccessfully fought with Hercules, and enraged Poseidon by killing his son Halirrhothios..

  5. personality • Ares was overwhelming, violent, destructive, and insatiable in battle. Mortals regarded him as a man-slaughterer, but his valor and strength was needed in battle. He had an explosive temper, which usually resulted in humiliation from the other gods. Residing over the battlefield, Ares is never absent in a time of war. He got as mad as Shrek when people are in his swamp.

  6. Ares vs. Athena Ares was especially hostile towards Athena, who was also a war deity. During the Trojan War, Ares fought on the side of Trojans, despite his mother Hera's plea to fight on the side of the Greeks. He was wounded by Diomedes, whose hand had been guided by Athena.

  7. The gods perspectives • Ares was regarded as a coward because he would respond to the slightest of injury with rage. He was always present in the field of battle, when or where ever it was. Athena was also a god of war and wisdom. She used smart military tactics to win battles while Ares, so desperate to be better then Athena, used brutal tactics in war. He was ruthless, slaughtering hundreds of soldiers in the battle field. • Zeus face when he realized Ares was evil

  8. Weapons and armor As well as trying to outdo Athena, Ares tried to outlook her Too. He was equipped with a sword/spear and a shield Along with golden plated armor. His helmet had two Spikes emerging from each side, along with a red war Ribbon on top. There is also a war-torn red cape with one of his Symbols on the back.

  9. Allies and enemies Allies: Hades, Eris, Fovos, Aphrodite, Phobos, and Deimos. Enemies: Athena, Cronos, Gaia, and Ouranos.

  10. Incest • Of Ares’s 8 children, all were “produced” by Ares’s SISTER, Aphrodite. This is not ok. He was also charged for attempted “naughty touching” on Alkippe, his DAUGHTER. This is also not ok. He was also the first god to be tried.
