SHOP CLEAN UP. Clean up starts 10 minutes before class ends. Depending on certain situations, clean up may be called early. You MUST participate in the clean up, even if you did not work in the shop. DO NOT wash your hands or stand near the door until you have finished your clean up duty.

  1. SHOP CLEAN UP

  2. Clean up starts 10 minutes before class ends. • Depending on certain situations, clean up may be called early. • You MUST participate in the clean up, even if you did not work in the shop. • DO NOT wash your hands or stand near the door until you have finished your clean up duty.

  3. FLOORS • Requires you to use a broom and sweep the shop area floors. • Make a pile of dirt and using a shovel, pick it up and place it in the garbage. • DO NOT SWEEP IT UNDER THE BENCHES, CARS OR EQUIPMENT OR INTO THE FLOOR DRAINS.

  4. TOOLS • Requires you to search out and gather any and all tools around the shop. • When placing tools in the tool cabinet, try to place them in the correct spot. If not sure where certain tools go, ASK !! • Some may gather tools and others place them in the proper spot.

  5. BENCHES AND EQUIPMENT • Requires the cleaning and organizing of the work benches. • Tools on the benches are to be given to someone on the tools job, or placed on the counter at the tools cabinet. • Equipment should be cleaned of any mess and placed in it’s proper spot, if portable.

  6. HOSES, CORDS AND LIGHTS • Requires you to find and neatly coil any hoses, cords and lights around the shop. • Air hoses are on reels and can be quickly rolled up. • Extension cords and lights belong on the shelf.

  7. WASH AREA • Requires you to supervise the wash area during clean up to make sure the sink drain is kept clear of paper towels and debris AFTER everyone has washed their hands. • Paper towels are to be picked up and the area clean BEFORE you leave.

  8. DESK AREA • Requires you to make sure all desks are in order, and any papers, garbage and notebooks are picked up from the floor. • The floor may need to be swept.

  9. CARS • All cars in the shop should be dusted off to prevent graffiti being written on them. • Any garbage in the vehicle should be picked up. • Loose parts should be placed in a safe spot. • Vehicle doors and hoods are to be shut and any keys returned to the teacher.

  10. COVERALLS & ?? • Any coveralls that have been used during class should be placed in the lockers out side the classroom. • You may be asked to search out and return any safety glasses left out in the shop.

  11. TIRES • You must make sure the tires near the tire machine are neatly organized and out of the way. • Tools used for tire service should be kept near the tire machine.

  12. STANDBY • STANDBY MAY BE ASSIGNED ANY REQUIRED CLEAN-UP TASK. • YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO SEEK OUT AND RETURN SAFETY GLASSES. • YOU MAY HAVE TO HELP WHEN SOMEONE IS ABSENT.

  13. If you find that you are the only one doing a certain clean up job, check the list and call the names of those people that should be helping. • If these people are absent or uncooperative, someone from another clean up job may be assigned to help. • The clean up list changes every week. Be sure when checking the list you are checking the correct week and job. • Doing the wrong job on the list is no excuse. • Not doing your clean up job will result in the loss of one mark for the day.
