After school sports activities & @ lunchtimes After school art/craft workshops, ICT, study sessions & homework club Range of after school, lunchtime sports, arts recreational clubs Booster classes Homework club (lunchtime) Range of lunchtime & after school activities, e.g. fitness, gardening/wildlife/ECO, ICT, art, soccer, science Summer schools e.g. sport activities, G&T (Ashcroft) Study support – lunch time, after school, holiday (Ashcroft) Breakfast Club Theatre in Education & links with feeders i.e. workshops (Ashcroft) After school sports (Ashcroft) Range of sports/music/art clubs lunchtime/after school (Wenlock) Smoking cessation workshops with QUIT (Ashcroft) Ashcroft/Crawley Sports new astro pitch use. Linking OSH Learning opportunities with our ‘After School Provision’ – wraparound Better links with school sports partnership Homework club – drop in basis – not subject specific ICT, Ashcroft music based clubs, activities Language courses/foreign/specialist e.g. sign Drop in centre – lunchtime in planning for health related issues linking with PCT & local health centre (Ashcroft) First Aid Courses – to teach children

Childcare 8 – 6 Mon-Fri Term time only (4-11 yrs) Breakfast & ASC 8.15 – 5.30 – 38hrs (4-11yrs) (Wigmore) Breakfast Club 8am (2 days a week) (Wenlock Junior) Holiday football clubs (9 – 3pm – 7 weeks of holiday) Breakfast & After School Club Mon-Fri (term time) 8-6 (4-11yr olds) Ramridge & ARC) Nursery (0-5yrs) 8-6 Mon-Fri – 50 wks of year Holiday Club 8-6 – 4-11yr olds (all holidays except Christmas 2 weeks) Ramridge Nursery 38 wks (2.5 hour sessions x 5 a week) links with ARC – Wraparound Wrap around care H.H within the school day CHILDCARE (8AM – 6PM – All Year Round - not always on site) Holiday care Pre 4 yr old wraparound required Holiday provision Extended Childcare hours to 8-6 -         To link with ARC to provide 8-6 (care) -         Referral for childcare facilities not referred -         Consider 52 weeks through alternative systems Breakfast & after school & family worker & 2 year olds – all in planning stage – H.H.

Clear child protection procedures Multi agency links – health etc. Named person for child protection – learning mentors referral via staff – specialised services e.g. social services (Ashcroft) Multi agency meetings (Ashcroft) Clear Child Protection Policy (procedures with des. Person) Effective procedures for referral to health services Multi-agency meetings held at school (Wigmore) Multi agency referrals relating to Inclusion project/multi strong agency links Clear child protection procedures (Hart Hill Nursery) Clear C. P systems. Internal early alert/monitoring systems. Regular liaison with BIP worker Partnership with health and social care Things THEY or we could do more effective response across a range of services exp social services to referrals. Would like to offer some health ‘appointments’ on site Improved Social Services communication ? named contact SWIFT AND EASY REFERRAL (To specialised services)

Things we could do Luton Adult Education (Including family learning) Adult Education (Vocational and non-vocational) at school sites Mums and tots groups//Wrap around care 9-3 /Books for babies/Family Art/PEEP/Promoting parent/child language development – Hart Hill Learning centre – Ramridge – ARC Different languages i.e. French – ARC Adult Education classes ( Ashcroft High: AHS) Family Worker/Family Numeracy/Family Literacy/Family Art (from Sept)/PEEPS/Play and Stay/E.L.G/Parenting Skills (St Matthews Infants – Extend this to KS2 Parents from Sept. When we become primary)  Mums/Dads and Tots groups – St A Open youth clubs 5-11 and 11-16 – St A Beavers, Scouts & Cubs for boys & girls – St A Asian ladies -social & exercise clubs – St A -sewing group (both giving numeracy and linguistic help) Family worker just appointed Community ‘letting for diet & fitness club (Wigmore) After audit of provision (present) after expanded provision Care for 2 year olds Basic parenting classes Extra education for children, parents and grand parents etc. Play area (Ashcroft Area) Increase Adult Education provision (Ashcroft) Parenting classes ICT classes for students & parents (together) ‘Parenting’ classes Basic Family Literacy/Numeracy/ICT. Audit what families would like! (attend) COMMUNITY ACCESS/Family/Adult/Parent Learning

SCHOOLS – A view of the Future Thinking/Feeling/Saying Children:- thinking that they can choose & attend breakfast a after school activities – whether their parents support this/can pay for this or not. Feeling that school is safe, caring, fun, nurturing environment from 8.00 – 6.00 (term time) & that there is a haven during long holidays Life is tough – exams, competition, stress!! I need help support Someone who cares!! Well trained adults working together What will Ofsted expect of me next? (Teacher) What about my pension? (Teacher) DOING Making full use of facilities/resources Working more independently Taking a step back & allowing others in the community to take the lead Still working with the schools Will there be enough funds? (to pay for extra-staff)

COMMUNITY – A View of the future Thinking/Feeling/Saying Children are safe and looked after Community seeing the school as stop for service access [School having enough resources and expertise to meet these needs] Enjoying living in the area due to services/facilities available & opportunities for active involvement in running them Seeing joined up provision for all activities (Time!!) Accessibility Doing Still doing more for the community [weekend clubs] Working more with/in schools Talking: to schools and one another Taking an active part in provision on offer because it is relevant & needed

Families/parents – A view of the Future Thinking/Feeling/Saying Flexible, Quality Childcare I can work knowing my children are safe I feel guilty wanting my children at home when all friends are doing exciting activities at school I can’t afford child care I wish I understand what and how my children learns at school I know who to speak to get the support, advice, guidance I need to help me guide/bring up my children – I feel confident Juggling work/childcare I have a real choice – an equal opportunity to look after my own children at home I can’t make ends meet Doing Learning together ? Better Economic well being Feel Guilty

  8. CHILDREN – View of the Future Thinking/Feeling/Saying When do I spend time with my parents? Good choice of activities The last 5 year were great (at ARC) Growing in confidence due to the wide range of social interactions/opportunities to try new things in a safe environment Children knowing where to turn for help, advice, support with all aspects of their social, emotional and educational needs Can I get my own home? Did I do something different then! I’m now one of a group – I’ve lost my own identity Doing 2-4 hrs physical activity/sport/week More play areas and parks I can now speak English (white working class as well!!) Nothing much I have many friends at school
