Counselors, what is your mission statement: “Helping boys to grow more Christ-like in all areas of life.”
Two Paths Path #1 • Answer the questions in your booklets tonight. Path #2 • Discuss/share the following: • Planning • Building Relationships • Motivation • Bible Studies • Projects • Communication • Resources • Answer questions in the manual on your own and submit to your head counselor.
Club schedule • Year plan • Monthly plan • Cadet evening plans (what will your first Cadet night look like?) • One option: Cadet bucket list, counselor bucket list Planning
Getting to know you • Launch events • Age-appropriate badges, events, projects, Bible studies Relationships
A motivated counselor = a motivated Cadet • Share what you are excited about • Badges, ranks are motivating for some boys but not all Motivation
Make expectations clear • What does your club use? • What is the main point? • Keep it engaging • Do your homework • What will you do if there is a disruptive boy? Bible Studies
Launch event—have a sample ready • Age-appropriate • 1-night projects • Website, Pinterest, other counselors • Look at schedule for the year • Consider combining them with badges Projects
