  3. Classroom Organisation Children will work in mixed ability groups during most learning sessions. For Maths and group reading sessions children will be grouped according to ability or need (initially on end of Y2 data). Children are encouraged to be independent in their learning and to use support materials available in the classroom.

  4. My Expectations • High expectations for behaviour. • High expectations for presentation. • High expectations for achievement.

  5. Rewards • House points • Reward Time • Lion of the Week • Deputy Head Teachers Award (behaviour) • Head Teachers Award (work)

  6. Handwriting Children will continue to learn the skills of cursive joined script. When they have established an fluent, joined and legible style they will be given a pen licence and pen to write with. Children should be aiming for their best presentation in all of their work.

  7. Reading Children are heard during group reading sessions weekly. In addition they may be heard read individually by an adult in school. Please support us by hearing your child read at home! We have a class award system for children reading at home.

  8. Maths Children will work through the National Numeracy Strategy objectives. It would really help if you could encourage the children to learn their times tables at home. We will continue with tables tests from where children got to in Y2.

  9. Useful information! Our PE session will be on Monday afternoon with swimming on Wednesday afternoon (please ensure children have PE kit in school at all times).

  10. Useful information! Home learning tasks will be set on a Friday for completion by the following Wednesday (starting this week). The children will be set one piece of ‘topic’ related learning for each term (i.e. 6 over the year). The first piece should already have come home.
