  4. The female human body is capable of giving birth to 35 children in one lifetime. • The Hymen: Over hyped • Long heralded as an indicator of virginity, the hymen is really just a small piece of tissue ringing the vaginal opening. It can break or tear upon first sexual intercourse (or other penetration), or it can stretch; in other words, the presence or absence of a hymen says nothing about whether a woman has had sex. • How Many Eggs Does a Woman Have? • The vast majority of the eggs within the ovaries steadily die, until they are depleted at menopause. At birth, there are approximately 1 million eggs; and by the time of puberty, only about 300,000 remain. Of these, 300 to 400 will be ovulated during a woman's reproductive lifetime. The eggs continue to degenerate during pregnancy, with the use of birth control pills, and in the presence or absence of regular menstrual cycles. Fun Facts

  7. About 500 million sperm mature every day in a normal male adult. The average life span of a sperm is about 36 hours. Sperm cells contain receptors on the surface of the sperm head that are similar to odor receptors in the nose. This has lead researchers to believe that sperm can detect the "odor" of the released egg, and literally are following its scent to locate it and attempt to fertilize it. Fun facts
