Thank you for your inquiry of the Florida A&M University Computer and Information Sciences Department. This department has an illustrious tradition of success dating from 1967. Our success has been due to the collective vision, labor and caring of dedicated University administration, faculty, staff and students. We currently have 650+ majors and a faculty of 16, both growing. Between 60 and 90 students graduate each year, moving to careers in major corporations or to graduate study in business, computer science or software engineering. We offer two undergraduate majors to choose from. The Computer Information Science major is an ABET-accredited program in computer science, with emphasis on mathematics and science. This major prepares students for careers that explore and discover new technologies, and for graduate study in computer science. The Computer Information Systems major prepares students for careers that apply information technology as a strategic component of running a business, and for graduate study in business or IT. The rewards of completing these challenging programs include employment by major corporations at impressive starting salaries, and acceptance into prestigious graduate programs. We have a dynamic, experienced and accomplished faculty. We have a combined 125 years teaching experience and 60 years industry experience. All faculty members teach; most conduct research and publish scholarly papers. Faculty members involve undergraduate and graduate students in research projects.
