  1. Presenting by Rohitpandey Under the guidance of Ms. Sonali Gupta (Lecturer E&C Engg.) Radio Frequency Light Sources

  2. Generate light by exciting a plasma inside a bulb by using radio frequency power. Radio frequency lamps operate without electrode. Three practical ways to energize RF light sources are capacitive ,inductive and wave sustained discharge. introduction

  3. DISCHARGE TUBES • It is the device in which a gas conducting an electric current emits visible light • On applying high voltage gas ions ionizes and emit coloured lights • The light originates as electrons change energy levels in the ionized atoms. By coating the inside layer of tube with a phosphor, invisible emitted radiation can produce visible light

  4. Plasma lamps • Invented by Frederick Espiau in 1980 • magnetron was used for RF generation • Noble gas was used inside the bulb • limited life, lagre size, • low power could not sustained the plasma under 1000 watt history

  5. Lifi • Invented in 2006 by luxim • Can sustain plasma under 1000 watt • Small size • Ceravision plasma lamps • It uses high dielectric constant of ceramic to create a very small waveguide to constrain and focus the radio waves • Small size • Long life

  6. Types of rf lamps
