  1. What do you do: • With students who fall below your lowest placement scores? • With students who want to practice before taking a placement test? • With students who are so overwhelmed with the number of remedial courses that they should take, that they drop out before they even start?

  3. College Readiness Persistence Completion Accurate course placement is a vital component of student persistence, retention, and completion.

  4. Students start by taking one or more ACCUPLACER Diagnostic Tests:

  6. There are additional reports for faculty and administrators.

  7. A personalized study plan has been created for you based on your ACCUPLACER test results. Within 24 hrs you will receive an email with your log in credentials and instructions on how to access your personalized study plan. If you have not provided an accurate email address please. See your proctor to update your information.

  8. Students enter their Locator Code at www.accumfl.com

  9. The activities include reading,

  10. videos,

  11. animations,

  12. practice assignments,

  13. Writing Activity

  14. and low-stakes assignments…

  15. with immediate feedback.

  16. And the assignments include a variety of learning aids for just-in-time help.

  17. 3. Students can demonstrate topic mastery by taking a post-test with a mastery score or achieving a mastery score on all activities.  (This is an instructor setting.)

  18. There is also a focus on study skills.

Independent Study: Student provides own access to technology and monitors own improvement • Independent Study with Instructor/Teacher Guidance: Student provides own access to technology but is monitored by teacher/instructor • Blended Learning: Teacher/instructor integrating technology into curriculum. • Lab: Student is given access to technology and is monitored by instructor.

Implementation Possibilities Include: • Creating a College Readiness course for Seniors which reviews the skills measured on ACCUPLACER and blends traditional instruction with MyFoundationsLab. • Use MyFoundationsLab as part of an ongoing English and/or Math course at either the high school or college level • Provide opportunities for independent study, preferably with teacher guidance • Create an intervention program such as a Summer Boot Camp.
