  1. Overview of State Reporting Presenter: Donna Reuter Farmington Public Schools Student Information Technician January 23, 2014

  2. Do we have enough state reports? MSDS • General Collections – Fall, Spring, EOY • TSDL – Mid-Year, EOY • SRM – Section 25, Early Roster • Early Childhood • UIC assignment and resolution • EEM • Days and Hours Report • GAD • CTEIS • Office of Civil Rights Compliance Report

  3. The Importance of the UIC • Data gathering begins with UIC • Graduation/Drop Out info is based on UIC • BAA uses UIC for MEAP testing • Must “link” UIC’s if student has more than one

  4. MSDS • MSDS has three “general collections” • Fall, Spring and End of Year • BAA uses the MSDS information for MEAP testing – rosters, etc. • Student UIC is the connector for the MSDS and BAA data • Data quality is important. MSDS will error out with certain errors.

  5. Section 25 • New law - funding follows student • Between Oct. 3 – Feb. 11 districts are allowed to request foundation allowance for students who move into their district AND were claimed elsewhere in Michigan for the fall count • Documentation must be sent to your auditor • SRM submission must be done for each student and must be certified

  6. When you are selecting the MSDS – SRM extract, make sure you pick the correct one.

  7. TSDL • Teacher Student Data Link • Mid-year and summer submission • Every student, every teacher, every class, every grade • Teacher PIC must be entered for every teacher • Every course must have a SCED entered

  8. Mid-Year TSDL Submission • This submission is required to report course data for all migrant-eligible students • Other students are optional for mid-year only • However, this is a great time to submit 1st semester or trimester course data and grades • Submission must be certified by Feb. 26, 2014

  9. Days and Hours Report • Report located on EEM • Electronic version of the former paper report • Due in July but can be updated through out the year • Reports each building and/or district including “forgiven” days

  10. Percentage Attendance Report • Required to give this to the auditor’s to prove that each day of school was above 75% • Can be ran at any time of the year to double check attendance for any day • Located in MiStar under State Reporting-RESA state reports

  11. CTEIS • Enter courses into CT Link Editor (located in Scheduling) • System, Utilities, Exec SP for necessary reports • If these Stored Procedures are not step up for your MiStar contact OS help desk • If you are a Wayne County MiStar user, please contact Wayne RESA

  12. Discipline • Discipline is a required component of the MSDS collections • Data must be entered correctly into MiStar for the data to be extracted properly • If data is not completely entered, errors will appear on the MSDS Validation Detail report

  13. Data Quality Garbage in, garbage out – Be careful! LEP students who have English/English listed for home and primary language will error out. If student is foreign born and receives LEP services, the Country of Birth and Year of Entry into US must be entered. SCED codes needed for every course Teacher PIC needed for every course – if course has same PIC listed multiple times, it will error out

  14. Additional Resources • www.mpaaa.org • www.michigan.gov/CEPI • www.misd.net • For the Macomb Error Checker
