  2. KWL: Physical Properties • Create a KWL chart to describe what you Know, what you Wonder or want to know about physical properties in the first two columns.   3. What is matter? • Matter is anything that: • has mass • takes up space

  4. Everything is made of matter. Can you think of some examples of matter?

  5. There are 3 states of matter. Solid Liquid Gas

  6. Solid • Easy to see • Definite shape. • Many different colors

  7. Liquid • Take the shape of their container • no definite shape • flow easily • Many different colors

  8. Gas • Gasses are colorless and odorless. • They take the shape of the container – no definite shape

  9. Properties of Matter Use 5 senses to describe an object’s properties. Smell See Sound Touch Taste

  10. Examples of Physical Properties Sweet odor Magnetic Able to melt Cool to the touch The size of a pea Lime green 6 cm in length

  11. Some objects change state Ex: Chocolate – Solid to liquid Can you think of two more objects that change state?
