This action research project focuses on examining the efficacy of a targeted intervention program on bullying behavior in students. The design involves a pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Threats to internal and external validity are identified, and proposed data analysis reveals a positive correlation between nurse office visits and bullying victimization. The study includes sample survey questions assessing perceptions of bullying and responses to bullying situations. By the end, the research aims to demonstrate a significant reduction in bullying incidents. Educational references on experimental research and descriptive statistics are included for further insights.

Table Of Contents • Research Design • Threats to Internal/External Validity • Proposed Data (Slide 5-6) • Sample Questions Pre/Post Survey (Slide 7-8) • References
Research Design • Research Design: Pre-Experimental • One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design • Symbolic Design: OXO • Single group is pretested (O), exposed to a treatment (X), and post tested (O). • The same treatment will be given to one group, three times a week, in the morning, for a four week period. • Students will sit together on carpet for the read aloud and role play
Threats Internal Validity External Validity History: Student/teacher absence Instrumentation: Surveys can have fake answers or misinterpretations Maturation: Loss of interest due to fatigue etc. Testing/Pre-testing Sensitization: hints regarding post-test Selection Maturation Interaction: students differ, possibly repetitive Pre-test treatment: Students try to remember questions from pre-test Experimenter Effects: Researcher Bias with high to low mean Reactive arrangement: Try harder because of the testing notion
Proposed Data Analysis: This graph expresses a positive fair/ common correlation between the amount of visits to the nurses officeand bullying victimization. The more visits to the nurses office can mean the child is being frequently victimized by a bully.
Proposed Data • The bar graph represents that bullying being a problem reduced significantly by post-test
Sample Questions Pre/PostSurvey Preferences 1. I believe it is important to stop bullying. Strongly Disagree Disagree AgreeStrongly Agree [1] [2] [3][4] 2. I feel bullying is only when you physically hurt someone. Strongly Disagree Disagree Agree Strongly Agree [1] [2] [3] [4]
Sample Questions Pre/PostSurvey Cont’d Frequencies • How often has someone used words to make you feel afraid or guilty? Never Sometimes Most of the time Always [1] [2][3] [4] • How often do you visit the nurse’s office to avoid a mean person? Never Sometimes Most of the time Always [1] [2] [3] [4]
