  2. Did you know that in medieval times music was played while eating because it was believed to help with digestion, and on the first day of spring dancers would dance to high pitched music believing it would awake the hibernating spirits?

  3. Music • Music was played for festivities like birthdays weddings and valentines day • Music was always played for the occasion, for example during weddings people played love songs during birthdays and parties, the music was uplifting.

  5. Art • Early art in the middle ages was limited to religious paintings, manuscripts, mosaics and frescoes in churches. • There were no portrait paintings and colors were fairly dull. • The later middle ages advanced to gothic art. • Artists broke away from the traditional religious art styles.

  7. Conclusion • The Middle ages were a time of art and music growth. • Starting with strictly religious art then branching out. • Music was used during eating, parties and festivals.
