  2. Causes of Endangerment Habitat Destruction Introduction of Exotic Species Global Warming Poaching © 2006-2007 Courtney, Dylan, Facundo, George, Simran, Shruthi All rights reserved.

  3. Reasons for Saving Endangered Animals A healthy environment for animals makes a healthy environment for humans Plants provide what man needs to create new crops They are important sources for drugs and food © 2006-2007 Courtney, Dylan, Facundo, George, Simran, Shruthi All rights reserved.

  4. Conservation Success Stories On March 26, 2007, the South Korean team declared that they had cloned two gray wolves. On March 15, 2007, scientists discovered a new leopard species called the Clouded Leopard on the islands of Borneo. This would not have been possible without habitat conservation. © 2006-2007 Courtney, Dylan, Facundo, George, Simran, Shruthi All rights reserved.

  5. How Significant is the Problem? • In the United States, 735 species of plants and 496 species of animals are listed as threatened or endangered. • There are more than 1,000 animal species endangered worldwide. • Aquatic species, which are often overlooked, are facing serious trouble. One third of the United States fish species, two-thirds of its crayfish species, and almost three-quarters of its mussel species are in trouble. © 2006-2007 Courtney, Dylan, Facundo, George, Simran, Shruthi All rights reserved.
