  1. Treatment Of Stretch Marks | How To Treat Stretch Marks? Rapid stretching of skin which results in discoloration and scars of skin are are the reason behind stretch marks. There are many reasons which can lead to stretch marks like quick weight gain, weight reduction, pregnancy, excessive exercise, steroids, puberty and hormonal changes etc. Stretchmarks are also known as striae. These are off-color hue scars on the skin. They will not disappear completely but may reduce overtime. Tearing of the dermis results in stretch marks. Many women have stretch marks, but still, it may cause embarrassment. Most women feel embarrassed at the appearance of these unattractive marks on their skin. During pregnancy there is no proof that creams utilized at that time actually reduce stretch marks. Once the marks are formed then there is no useful treatment. Striae (stretch marks) in the beginning look reddish/purple lesions, which generally occurs on the body parts which contain more amount of fat. But they can occur anywhere on your body. The most common places where the stretch marks generally occur are the upper arms, underarms, abdomen (near navel), thighs(inner or outer) back, hips and buttocks etc. The affected areas appear empty and feels gentle while touching.
