  6. How successful were the students who enrolled in SCL 1001 compared to eligible students who did not enroll and the control group (Fall 06 students)? + Enrollment as of 8/12/2008 * Statistically Significant, p<.05 • Fall 07 group (SCL + non SCL students) had a GPA of2.2 (N= 1,664) • Fall 07 cohort (SCL +non SCL students) had a persistence rate of 71.7% (N=1,664)

  7. How successful were the students who passed (A, B, or C) SCL 1001 compared to those who did not pass or withdrew from the course? + Enrollment as of 8/12/2008 * Statistically Significant, p<.05

  8. What effect does delivery method and course length have on student success? * Statistically Significant, p<.05

  11. SCL 1001 Evaluations

  12. Conclusions • Students who enroll in SCL 1001 differ from those who do not…age, EFC, ACT, and Crhrs • SCL 1001students have higher spring persistence and fall retention rates than non-SCL students • Students who are successful in SCL are also more successful in terms of GPA, persistence and retention • There seems to be very little difference between delivery methods and course lengths in terms of GPA, persistence, and retention
