  3. How to shatter glass ceilings? • Give women highly visible work assignments in operational areas • Ensure training & adequate support to prevent failure which could be used as excuse for not engaging in such efforts. • Match skills to the assignment.

  4. How to shatter glass ceilings? • Conduct at least one women-friendly event for networking with childcare facilities • Engineer a mentoring program • Implement succession planning • Do not assume that women will not accept relocation or international assignments

How to shatter glass ceilings? • Start recruiting women at lower level jobs & ensure progression through the ranks so that they are successful • Manage people’s expectations organizational change effort • Remind people of the learning curve and that such efforts will take time • Make performance rewards contingent on diversity competency

How to shatter glass ceilings? • Include criteria into job description that are inclusive and not discriminatory to certain groups • e.g., include collaborative skills in the job description that are needed for the job and ensure that job descriptions are not gender-biased • Ensure that harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated in the organization & that people are punished for such acts • Ensure that internal job postings positions are known to all – • do not use the grapevine / word of mouth for recruiting
