  4. INPUT ….. • Commitment • Linkages with departments, health sector, • welfare schemes • Collaboration and networking • Building confidentiality • Rapport with beneficiaries • Follow up and care of mothers , • children & families (if required)

OUTCOME….. • + AN Mothers follow-up improved • Spouse – testing improved • More AN mothers linked to the CST /ART services • (pre-art registration, CD4, on ART) • increase in number of + deliveries in Govt. Institutions • Nevirapine coverage increased ( 39%- 2007 to 98% - 2009) • Increase in number of babies who took EID / 18mnth HIV tests • Custom-made Infant feeding Counseling • Loss-to-follow-up (LFU) reduced from 7% to 2.5 % • Increase health seeking behaviour & availing health care services

  6. Impact… • Increase in number of positive mothers • getting HIV-related services • HIV transmission rate to infants is around 7 %

  7. Challenges…… • New regimen – ART prophylaxis • Insufficient manpower • Funding Constrains • Insufficient administrative cost • Need for Advocacy in PPTCT • Gender bias among the families • Non-availability of nutritional support

  8. NETWORKING …… • FEDERATION FORMED IN 2008 WITH AIM OF NETWORKING • FEDERATION HELPED TO BUILT RELATIONSHIP WITH NGOs • NETWORKING HELPED TO FOLLOW MIGRANTS • NETWORKING HELPED TO REDUCE LFU CASES • FEDERATION HELPS NGOs TO ACCESS INFORMATION TAMILNADU AIDS PREVENTION NETWORK - TAPNET
