  3. 1. Drop Out Prevention/Credit Recovery • Provide online and small group classes • Additional layer of personalized support for at- risk students • Re-entry for students after extended absence • Address the gradual rise in mental health issues related to depression and anxiety

  4. 2. Least Restrictive Environment • Leverage existing networksand relationships • Greater range and quality of academic and social emotional resources to surround and support students and families • Ability to transition into and out of an alternative setting and into mainstream

Chapter 222 of MGL. 71 Beginning July 1, 2014, schools must provide any student who is suspended from school with educational services that allows them to makeacademic progress while suspended. *For a detailed overview of the changes, please go to: http://www.malegislature.gov/Laws/SessionLaws/Acts/2012/Chapter222

In year 1, we estimate serving approximately 20-30 students • 70-80% we expect will attend one or more classes outside the Alternative Program • 20-30% may have hybrid schedules, i.e. partial day, work study, on-line, one or two regular classes • 0-5% of students who, for disciplinary reasons (37h 37h½, 37h ¾), are re-assigned to the PM program 3-5 p.m.
