  2. Cell Types Identify the following cells types and list the main differences between the two cell types.

  3. Plant Cell- Name the structure and match it to the function I am a storage unit for the cell I am an organelle that is unique to plants . I capture the sun’s energy and convert it to chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis . I manage all cellular functions and contains DNA . I am a selectively permeable boundary that controls what enters and leaves the cell. Animal Cell – Match the structure to its function I convert fuel into energy for the cell. I help manufacture proteins I store genetic material I hold all the cell contents and separate the cell from its environment

My prefix means “equal” . Water moves in and out of the cell at an equal rate. 4. My prefix means “ under” . There is more water outside the cell , then inside the cell cause the cell to swell because of pressure increase . Animal cells can burst , but plant cells become firmer. This is why publix will mist the fruits and vegetables ..keeping them looking FRESH. 5. My prefix means, “above” . Water leaves the cell by osmosis and pressure is decreased causing the cell to shrink. In plants , it causes wilting. Osmosis and diffusion are passive transport . When there is movement from low concentration to high concentration the cell has to use its own energy (active transport). This helps the cell maintain homeostasis Hydrophilic molecules tend to interact with water and with each other. Hydrophobic molecules avoid interaction with water and tend to interact with other hydrophobic molecules.
