  1. The Cross-Eyed King

  2. Once upon a time there lived a cross-eyed king.

  3. He was a proud king and he wanted a handsome painting made of himself. He asked the best artist in his kingdom to make a portrait.

  4. As the king was cross-eyed the young artist did not know how to make his king look handsome. So he went to his father who was a very good artist himself.

  5. His father told him, “Everybody looks good one way or the other. Make a portrait of your king holding a bow and arrow then show him take aim. As one eye of his will be closed no one will notice that he is cross-eyed.”

  6. The artist did exactly that and he made a wonderful picture of the king.

  7. Very often we only look at the bad things in people. We must look for the good things.
