The approach • Trainers’ manual, modular, flexible • A4, loose leaf, photocopiable • User friendly, illustrations, cartoons • Adaptable for different scenarios • Multi-textured • For each section: • Core learning activities (group work, role plays etc) • Add on activities for specific groups, or where more time is available • Case studies (e.g. success stories) • Extracts (e.g. legislation, collective agreements) • Boxes • Check lists • Reference materials • Sources of information • Notes for trainer

  7. Target • A training handbook, based on the CoP • Recognize that the CoP and ILO/AIDS has generated its own dynamic, and other issues may be added, or receive added emphasis • ILO staff, constituents – that means you!

Draft contents list… • Does NOT follow order of CoP • Why HIV/AIDS is a workplace issue (particular strengths ILO brings to the issue) • Basic rights (from Section 4, Key principles - some will have separate sections) • HIV/AIDS in the workplace role of employers and EO role of workers and WO • Role of government (national policy framework; macro-economic policy;incorporating HIV/AIDS into Labour Law)

Draft contents list…2 • Gender issues (but also a cross-cutting theme) • Prevention • Care and support (includes Social Protection) • Informal economy • Basic information (fact sheets) • Resources: websites, publications, sources of information, key publications • ILO and HIV/AIDS (key facts about ILO/AIDS, its activities, June 2000 ILC resolution • Appendices e.g. full text of CoP

  10. Testing in the field You are the first group!! Pilot courses planned in… ...a range of regions ...a range of contexts (tripartite, workers organisations, employers organisations, Labour Inspectors..) Systematic collection of feedback with a questionnaire Questionnaire should also be sent with draft to other stakeholders (workers organisations, employers organisations, specialists, UN agencies, NGOs)

  11. How you can help… • Send copy of all your policies, training materials, collective agreements to ILO-AIDS • Give them to me now, please! • Identify opportunities for piloting • A questionnaire will be circulated
