The Cost of College

1. The Cost of College Colleges charge you tuition to attend. CCRI is state supported and tuition is based on whether or not you are a RI resident. Additional fees (e.g. fees for lab, technology, etc.) are charged each semester. Books and course supplies are purchased separately by you each semester. You are responsible for paying each semester all: • tuition • fees • books • course materials

2. Your Semester Bill • You are billed each semester you attend CCRI. • The amount you owe is based on the number of credits you are registered for and additional fees.

3. Full-Time & Part-time Status For billing and financial aid purposes a student registered for:  • 12 to 19 credits is considered full-time. • 1 to 11 credits is considered part-time.

6. Hidden Costs to Consider In addition to tuition and fees, you have to consider the daily living and commuting costs of attending college such as: • Transportation (driving to campus or bus fare). • Child care for when you are in class.

7. Graduating in Two Years If you plan to graduate or transfer in two years you must be registered for at least 15 credits per semester (successfully completing 5 courses each semester). If you have been accepted into CCRI as a Promise Scholar, you are required to earn at least 30 credits each academic year to remain eligible to participate in the program.

8. The Bursar’s Office This office issues bills, collects payments and issues refunds. • Your tuition and financial aid needs to be paid and in order by the due date each semester. • Tuition is always due before the semester begins. • To find out when your tuition bill is due, visit http://www.ccri.edu/bursar/paymentcalendar/

9. Using MyCCRI to View & Pay Your Bill The MyCCRI web portal allows you online access to view and pay your bill. It also has your financial aid information. • You may pay your bill using personal funds by check, credit card or cash. • Pell grants, Promise scholarships, private scholarships and student loans may also be used to pay your bill.

10. Adding an Authorized User If you choose, you may allow parents or other individuals to make payments on your behalf. To create an authorized user, log into your MyCCRI account and complete the following steps: • Select the “My Account” tab. • Select “Authorized Users”. • Select “Add Authorized User”.

11. E-Billing Allows you to view and pay your tuition bill through your MyCCRI account. Log into MyCCRI. • Select the “MyAccount” tab. • Your options include View Activity and Make a Payment. • Online payments may be made using Visa, MasterCard, Discover and electronic check.

12. EasyPay – Monthly Payment Plan • EasyPay is an interest-free monthly payment plan available to all students who meet the payment-plan criteria regardless of financial need. It is offered for the fall, spring and summer semesters.  • Registration is simple and handled completely by the Bursar's Office for a $30.00 enrollment fee per semester. 

13. Sign Up for E-Refunds You may be eligible to receive a refund (e.g. financial aid disbursement or dropping a course within the add/drop period). You’ll get your refund faster and safely using E-Refund which direct deposits your refund to your bank account. • Log into your MyCCRI account. • Select the “MyAccount” tab. • Select “Refunds”. • Select “Set up Account”. • Follow the prompts to enter your information.

14. Scholarship Opportunities The CCRI Foundation & Alumni Association have several scholarships available to you. • Criteria, application deadlines and award amounts differ. • Scholarships available to incoming, continuing, transferring, and graduating students. 15. Applying for Financial Aid Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is the first step to determine if you are eligible for financial assistance. Apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used for the following programs. • Pell Grants (Federal Aid) • Rhode Island Promise Scholarship (State Aid) • Institutional Aid • College Work-Study • Subsidized Direct Loans • Unsubsidized Direct Loans

16. Need Help to Fill Out the FAFSA? Call the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). This office is located on each campus and helps students complete their financial aid forms including the FAFSA.

17. FAFSA Deadlines Students may apply for financial aid anytime of the year, but complete the FAFSA as early as possibleto ensure you are receiving the maximum aid available! • Complete a FAFSA every yearyou want financial aid. • You can apply as early as October 1st for the upcoming academic year (September - June). • RI Promise students must complete a FAFSA each year.

18. What Happens After You Submit Your FAFSA? When you completed your FAFSA, your information was sent to CCRI’s Financial Aid department. CCRI’s Financial Aid department may require you to submit additional information or forms. • It is important you check your CCRI email and log into your MyCCRI account on a daily basis to view your billing and financial aid status. 19. Your Financial Responsibilities If you register for courses but decide not to attend CCRI, you must drop the courses via MyCCRI. • If you don’t officially drop your courses you will have an unpaid balance. • You cannot attend CCRI or access transcripts if you have an unpaid balance. • Contact Advising & Counseling if you are unsure of how to drop a class or withdraw from CCRI.
