  5. DUKE.EDU 1st Quarter ’08 vs. (1st Quarter ’07) Browsers: • IE 63%(67) : 6.0 = 34%(49); 7.0 = 29%(18) • FF 28%(23) : Adoption rate of updates is immediate. • Safari dropped from 166k – 86k; Mozilla increased 20k – 145k

Conclusions • Browsers: • IE is used by roughly ¾ of Duke users and gradually dropping > Firefox; Reminder IE no longer supported for Macs. • Connection: Broadband is here but watch Intl. • OS: OSX is gradually gaining but WinXP still reigns. • Screen Resolution: • Don’t dumb down designs for lowest common denominator: 800x600 Why?
