VISION • Centergy, Inc., the Central WI Alliance for Economic Development, is a nonprofit organization created to attract and retain thriving businesses and a high-quality workforce, to foster entrepreneurial activity, and to inspire continuous improvement in our quality of life. MISSION • Centergy’s mission is to stimulate measurable economic development in Central Wisconsin by aligning resources, encouraging cooperation among all sectors of our regional economy, and promoting the value of doing business in Central Wisconsin.

Areas of Focus • Business Development = economic expansion focused on targeted industries to retain, expand, attract and innovate. • Workforce Development = to attract, develop, connect training and encourage educational attainment. • Community Development = to enhance the region’s quality of place, infrastructure, sustainability & government relations.

  8. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT • Raise educational attainment and skills of workers • Specific new programs for healthcare workers • Executive professional career web-base system for trailing spouses • Increase articulation and transfer agreements

  9. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT • Attract, develop, and retain talent and encourage increased levels of educational attainment • Decrease remedial education • Create manufacturing alliance through Gold Collar Careers to reach high school students

  10. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT • Advanced Manufacturing • Foreign Trade Survey in process. To determine issues that face businesses currently exporting products. Information will be used to determine what assistance/support/resources are necessary • ExporTech – a roadmap for Wisconsin Businesses. Workshops underway in Centergy region • Support local chamber efforts to market vacated paper mills & manufacturing facilities • Market Gold Collar Careers (not blue, not white collar). Not your grandfathers manufacturing ops • In collaboration with Technical Colleges, grow Centergy’s existing Manufacturing Alliance to address the workforce shortage, including collecting best practices, launching a public awareness campaign, and assisting community and regional initiatives. • Bio-Science Strategies • Working closely with UWSP on their plans to develop healthcare curriculum • Provide regional voice in efforts to attract the Medical College of WI to our region • Promote the development of a Healthcare Alliance in the region • Co-hosting on-going compressed natural gas informational meetings for individuals and companies in the region that will benefit from substantial cost savings. CNG is the fuel of the future. • Co-Sponsoring • Coordinating regional presence of agricultural/alternative energy at Midwest Renewable Energy Fair • Entrepreneurship

COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENT • Quality of Place • Distribute recently developed Quality of Life DVD • Facilitate Community Workshops to engage communities • Promote local Quality of Place campaigns • Logistics/Infrastructure • Grow the physical infrastructure and utilization of CWA • Advocate road systems & bidge improvement projects • Coordinate efforts to deploy Broadband connectivity across region • Government Relations • Municipal Leaders Council • Legislative Council • Central Wisconsin Days
