The first thing you will need to do is to decide on an area of focus for the theme: We suggest you consider choosing one of the following: Portraits Landscape/cityscape Still Life The exam will follow the same structure as the projects you have completed for Unit 1 eg, Research, developing ideas and experimenting with techniques through analysis of others’ work, developing your own ideas, evaluating and refining ideas and creating a final outcome.   20. Photgraphy Preparatory Tasks Week 1: Task 1: Choose one of the three genres to focus on for the exam. Either Portraits, Landscape/cityscape or Still Life. Create the following slides: 1: Name, Candidate Number and Unit 2 – Covert and Obscured 2: Initial Scatter diagram showing genres and areas for chosen theme 3: Four slides showing relevant photographer/ artist examples. These should be analysed showing an understanding of context, relating them to the theme and using key technical vocab. Covert and Obscured

  21. Photgraphy Preparatory Tasks Week 1 and 2: Portraits Task 2: Create experiments investigating the theme: Obscured faces. Experiment with wrapping the face, erasing the face, working over portraits of the face to obscure it, paper bags, shooting through materials. Minimum 3 shoots Create the following slides: 1: Contact strip for each shoot. 2: Screen shots of editing. 3: Evaluation of success of two shots from each shoot shown larger. Relate this back to exam question. Covert and Obscured

  22. Photgraphy Preparatory Tasks Week 1 and 2: Still Life Task 2: Create experiments investigating the theme: Fragmenting and Abstracting. Investigate how the still life can show an obscured view of objects through the process of cubist techniques and other forms of abstraction such as folded shot photographs. Minimum 3 shoots Create the following slides: 1: Contact strip for each shoot. 2: Screen shots of editing. 3: Evaluation of success of two shots from each shoot shown larger. Investigate how the landscape can be fragmented experiment with joiners, layering of multiple images, dividing image into shapes. Minimum 3 shoots Create the following slides: 1: Contact strip for each shoot. 2: Screen shots of editing. 3: Evaluation of success of two shots from each shoot shown larger.
