  1. United States History Activating Strategy On page 2 of your packet, use the words to write sentences about events in the history of the United States that you have learned about in third through fifth grade.

  4. Native to a place. Europeans called them “Indians”. Native Americans = First Americans Indigenous

  5. Representation • Acting or speaking on behalf of someone or something.

  6. Revolution • A sudden, complete change in government.

  7. Declaration • An official statement.

  8. Independence • Freedom to rule oneself.

  9. Constitution • A document that describes a written plan for governing.

  10. Republic • A form of government in which the citizens elect representatives to make and enforce the laws.

US History Timeline **1492- First Europeans led by Christopher Columbus Arrive in America 1700- England had set up 13 separate colonies **1763- British helped the colonist fight the French-Indian War 1774- The First Continental Congress meet in Philadelphia to challenge British rule. April 19, 1775- American Revolution begins
