  1. What Makes Alloy Wheels Better Than Steel Wheels? To many of us, our car is a very precious thing. We are always looking forward to equipping our cars with the best technologies available, but is your car equipped with alloy wheels? If not, then you should think of getting them as they come with a lot of benefits. A notion with alloy wheels is that they only give a good look to your car, but that doesn’t end there. Different from regular conventional wheels made up of steel, alloy wheels are mainly made up of alloys of magnesium or aluminium. In the beginning, magnesium alloy was mostly used in the alloy wheels. Hence the term ‘mag wheel’ came into existence. A reason for not using aluminium in alloy wheels at that time was its low ductility. However, with further research into the field and improvement in aluminium casting, aluminium wheels took over the magnesium wheels in the low-budget and high- performance segment. In the beginning, alloy wheels weren’t popular among

  2. commercial cars because they were expensive, which restricted them to sports and luxury cars. However, time changed and now compact and budget cars also come equipped with BBS Wheels. Advantages of alloy wheels: Appearance: Unlike the dull appearance of regular steel wheels, the sleek and gleaming design of alloy wheels makes your car shine like a diamond. In old times, wheels weren’t a part of a car's aesthetics, but now looks of a vehicle are also judged by its wheel. It’s one of the reasons all luxury cars are equipped with alloy wheels. There is plenty of variety in colours and designs in alloy wheels, which gives you more options in customisation. Better heat dissipation: Compared to normal steel wheels, alloy wheels are better heat dissipators. Excess heating can damage your car’s braking system and also cause breaking failure. The performance and safety related to the tyres are also affected adversely with the increase in temperature. Better performance: Alloy wheels are lighter in weight, which reduces the unsprung mass of the vehicle. This further reduces strain on suspension components of a vehicle and improves handling, steering and cornering abilities. Also, with a decrease in weight, fuel efficiency increases. Corrosion and rust are less likely: Pure metals are susceptible to rust and corrosion but alloys, with the mixed property of two or more elements, are effective in resisting corrosion. Aluminium alloys are better than steel when it comes to resisting corrosion. Increase tyre’s life: Increase in temperature of tyres leads to an increase in tyre pressure, which affects both their performance and durability. Alloy wheels CoventryUK are good in dissipating heat, which aids in extending the durability of tyres. Better fit for tubeless tyres: In tubeless tyres, the air is sealed in between the tyre and rim of the wheel. The airtight design of BBS alloy wheels makes them a better option in case of tubeless tyres.
